Abstract

The following notes on the occupations of entomologists in South Africa may be of interest to readers.

During an investigation into the training and occupations of entomologists, carried out in South Africa in the early '70s, some interesting facts and figures came to light:

Approximately 100 entomologists are employed in the Department of Agriculture and the Universities. Fifty more work in commercial firms and about 30 are employed in other research institutes such as the South Africa bureau of Standards, or museums. These figures refer to Scientists as Technical staff were not included in the survey.
