Abstract

On 15 March 2010, I was brought for identification by Mr. D. W. Gray of Vehicle Inspections New Zealand (VINZ), 20 Teviot Street, South Dunedin, a specimen of Halyomorpha halys (Stål) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) 18 mm long . It was found in a used Toyota Hilux vehicle that had been shipped from Tokyo to New Zealand earlier this year. (The firm VINZ strips down used motor vehicles in order to test them for roadworthiness on New Zealand roads and this process reveals many hidden insects).
