Abstract

The Nature Conservancy and US National Park Service are undertaking a long term ecological restoration programme on Santa Cruz Island, California. A species targeted for eradication is the invasive Argentine ant (Linepithema humile). Argentine ants are known to be destructive invaders and since their discovery on Santa Cruz in 1996 they have established themselves and are displacing other native organisms.
